omigosh just before sitting down to eat tacos with my mom, i put on dinner music, to scroll through your garden pics , i said i need to make apple crisp ha i planned to look for a recipe on online!
Apple crisp is one my family's favorite comfort foods. We love the "Feeding the Whole Family" by Cynthia Lair apple crisp recipe, similar to this, with maple syrup instead of sugar. Plums and apples mixed makes a wonderful combo, too.
Mmm, reminds me of my mother's "Apple Crisp" recipe in her "Country Women's Institute" recipe book. Yours is more fancy, my mother's one had water not juice and had raw sugar not white nor brown. We didn't put it in in lumps, but tried to make an even coating. Rubbed the butter (not marg) into the flour and raw sugar with our fingers.
Being of English/Scottish extraction, we always had it with vanilla custard, and being farming folk, with fresh cream.
Type of apples were not specified, but usually had Granny Smiths on hand which are tart (and store well with their tough skins).
I am also very familiar with your photgraphed flowers, but they did make my mother exasperated as they would multiply too vigorously. They have surprisingly large round black seeds - am I remembering correctly?
Sometimes I have to put all seriousness
Aside and remember what a dear friend
Said ….she said “I camefor the food.”
Forget all the politics let’s eat.
Warm the pie and bring on the cold
Ice cream… now I got get ready for
Dinner.
Thanks for the recipe! And the laugh!!
Pictures too. We were just looking at some
Blackberries soon to come, great with vanilla ice cream as well.
wonderful pictures, as always, Thank you:)
omg i love crisps with all kinds of fruit.
Now, the question I have is: what exactly is the difference between:
A Crisp.
A Cobbler
And a Crumble.
All I know is I love them. And yes, with Vanilla ice cream. Anything else seems like heresy.
What zone are you in? It’s so hot here. Everything is struggling. My rudbeckia look terrible
🐱😽
Me-yum! 😸😋
