We lost both our apple trees in a single storm some years back. I am sorry for your loss

nice tribute to a wonderful provider and friend. Good way to think about nature. Plants have consciousness and feelings, of that I am sure.

Thank you for sharing your own Giving Tree memories. This made me research why my two oak trees (one in the front yard and one in the back) have about a 10 inch patch of bark lifting up. I found the statement below and as a matter of fact, it is the south side for both trees. Texas also had the bitter cold last year. So I think they will both be ok since no other places on the trees have issues.

"Bark falls off after frost, which usually happens on the tree’s south or southwest side. Any sudden swing in temperature can make trees shed bark and crack under stress."

thank you, love one another... it’s hard to lose an old tree... will plant another one for future generations... praying for your oak trees.
