Kitten you are SO LUCKY to have had ever met your grandfather, something I never had, with NONE of my both grandfathers.... Well, genetically speaking, you must have this engineering seed somewhere, maybe you could finish that engine project, look what Trump s doing with the oil/wars/etc...
Some of the Chech composers are my very best favorites;))
Here just two from Dvorak, to add to your great piece of music:
I just spent a (well invested) 15-minutes marveling at the topographical challenges of building a railroad in Ecuador and reading a loving tribute to your accomplished grandfather. Thanks for taking what had to be a huge chunk of time to construct such a mesmerizing piece!
Oh kitten, this was a riveting piece! Thank you for sharing all this information about your amazing grandfather, and your relationship with him.
I was pleasantly surprised to note that you and I have a connection through Ecuador because of your grandfather and my family's foreign exchange student!
Of the three available foreign exchange students, I chose Tania. She came to stay with us for 11 months during our senior year in high school. Tania was immediately welcomed into our home and treated like family. She and my sister and I had a fabulous time together!!!
Tania's father was the physician to the president of Ecuador for several decades. So they were very well-to-do.
Our family had a 180-acre "hobby" ranch with 125 head of beef cattle, and my father also worked as a signal maintainer on the Soo Line Railroad. So we were barely middle class.
Tania still says that her dream is to come back and live in our little Wisconsin town and live a simple life.
I loved reading your post, so much so that it put me a little bit behind in Ron's and my travels this morning! But I'm glad, because we ended up at our campsite at just the right time.
Sending you much peace and love, as I look forward to getting back to California soon!😸💖
Thanks for your thoughts, kitten. Traveling by RV is no picnic. I call it "A Work-Release Program"! It's not just the driving. Because we have a very tiny travel trailer with tiny storage and a small fridge/freezer and holding tanks, we need to take care of the waste and water and electricity every day or two. We also need to shop for fresh produce several times a week. Ron and I both agree that our 8 days parked at my sister's lake cottage was the best part of the trip so far. We really got to stretch out and relax, which was necessary! While we were in that area, the four Borslien siblings met for an afternoon and we went through the last of Dad's belongings and photos. That was emotional but so good that we were all together. It would have been even better with Tania there, but she is so busy taking care of her 95-year-old parents that I couldn't even bear to ask her to come. That time will come, as you know. Sending you a big hug back to the west coast🤗😸!

Let's hope we have a resurgence of such building and innovation in America again. It's time.
Love this post! Well written and researched as always.

What a lovely tribute! And though I don't celebrate holidays, may Your father's day be glorious!
Thank you for showing me a bit of history I had no idea of, and for the peek into your personal memories of some wonderful people. A fine post.
Beautiful Kitten! An inspiration to all ❤

I have been thinking of you & Ron’s travels with all the weather in the Midwest lately … a simple life sounds heavenly!
